When one of our daughters was going through a serious life crisis that seemed to reach every area of her life and overwhelmed our family with a need to protect her amid feelings of inability and powerlessness, and all of my years of learning about how to pray seemed to be gaining no ground whatsoever, our son told me to go to my studio and "paint out my pain". This painting is the result of heeding his sage advice. It depicts me as the Guardian/Protector Mother, our daughter as the infant, and her enemy as the serpentine mongrel. The Guardian has gone to the very highest peak among the mountains and is standing on the Rock, signifying Jesus Christ, Who is higher than any other person, difficulty, or obstacle. She is willing to take the attack on herself, and even to give her life for her child. However, if the enemy attacks her humanity [legs], then it might injure her enough to reach the infant. She will not give up her child to the enemy, so she has begun the process of turning herself into a tree the mongrel cannot climb, and which his teeth cannot harm. In her stance against evil, she, as a living tree, has put down her roots into the Rock and split it open, ensuring her steadfast, immovable position. As she is transforming into something invincible, she lifts her child up in both arms and her swinging hair becomes a canopy of branches covering the infant with protective shade. The canopy also signifies the chuppah, or covering of the Almighty, providing His perfect safety. Even as the enemy snarls his threats and malicious intent, the Guardian snarls back. And as I painted this piece, I began to feel strong again, and formidable. I gained strength from my Rock, Jesus Christ, and took up my place as her intercessor with renewed vigor and confidence that she will not be destroyed. God is faithful, and He will watch over her and keep her safe, even in all of this. And after taking back my stance in the spiritual realm, God has already answered my prayers and the prayers of many other believers and done two miracles for her. I know He is working in all the other areas of her life, as well. And until I know she is safe from her enemies, I will continue to hold her up. Ps 18:33, and 1 Cor. 15:58, and Eph. 6:13
