Yellow highlighted areas contain hidden images embedded in the painting.
This painting is derived from two different areas of scripture, and is not intended to be a definitive, theologically correct image of either of them.
Psalm 18 describes the cries of a desperate heart, and God’s response:
"The cords of death entangled me; the torrents of destruction overwhelmed me. The cords of the grave coiled around me, the snares of death confronted me. In my distress I called to the LORD, I cried to my God for help. From His temple He heard my voice; my cry came before Him, into His ears."
The earth trembled and quaked, and the foundations of the mountains shook; they trembled because He was angry. Smoke rose from His nostrils; consuming fire came from His mouth, burning coals blazed out of it. He parted the heavens and came down; dark clouds were under His feet. He mounted the cherubim and flew; He soared on the wings of the wind. He made darkness His covering, His canopy around Him - the dark rain clouds of the sky. Out of the brightness of His Presence clouds advanced, with hailstones and bolts of lightning. The LORD thundered from heaven; the voice of the Most High resounded. …
"He reached down from on high and took hold of me; He drew me out of deep waters. He rescued me from my powerful enemy, from my foes, who were too strong for me…"
And in Revelation 5:8 it says of the four living creatures and the twenty-four elders around the throne of God, " …and they were holding golden bowls full of incense, which are the prayers of the saints."
So, the imagery here is the intercessor carrying the burdens of the saints who cry out to our Lord, coming with the Lion of Judah Who is responding to their needs. He comes in answer to our prayers.
The intercessor, although in facial bone structure Caucasian, is almost entirely done in shades of purple, and intended to represent prayer warriors of all colors. Her hair is flaming fire, and the smoke from it arises as does the smoke from the incense in the bowls.
This painting is filled with images Holy Spirit painted. There are faces and lions all over it. It seems that each person who has looked at it with me has found more than previously seen. We’ve picked out some of them to show you.
Hidden Image Descriptions:
Box 1 A running lion is formed mostly in purple above the swirls of smoke from the incense. There’s an almost perfectly round moon-face with all of her features ~ no joke, I DID NOT create her on purpose! And just above her is the face of a man who looks as if he sports a Mohawk haircut, lying flat, looking straight up, with a very crisp profile.
Box 2 ) Here are a couple of the fainter images, both lions, one a full-maned male, and the other an unmaned female.
Box 3 If you begin at the edge of the canvas and follow the lightest area defined by almost a line, you can see the chin and then lower lip, the upper lip and nose IN the incense, and in their correct positions, the darker purple lines of an eye and eyebrow. It’s a face completely and correctly in perspective. This seems to me to clearly indicate Jesus bending over to deeply inhale the smoke from the prayers of the intercessors. He almost seems to be smiling.
There is also most of a very clear lion face just below this light line. And outside of the edge of the box, one friend found his chest and front legs. If you see them, you will see that He appears to be running. She said He is running to answer our prayers.
There is a funny little naked baby, like a cherub, holding the train of the intercessor’s gown. And in the dark clouds just above the rain are several more lion faces.
