This acrylic painting is called a sketch because of its simplicity and lack of detail and layering. It was inspired by a mating pair of lions butting heads, but once again, I have seen in them both a human and spiritual counterpart. His mane seems to be flowing over her head as a covering and mantle, and she appears to be blushing [which, of course, lions cannot do]. The title of the painting refers to each believer's relationship with Jesus Christ, Who is the Lover of our souls and the Lion of Judah, Who is the Bridegroom of the Church. As we come into relationship with Jesus as Savior and Lord, He tenderly watches over us individually, placing His mantle over us and sharing His heart with us. He is always gentle, and we can trust we will be welcomed when we lean on that love.
