Title: Lion of Judah #4  Summer Lion

One winter day, I was amazed to see from our den window the clear face of a lion in the bark of a tree in the back yard. The tree trunk was slightly behind another, and it gave the impression the lion was peeking out from hiding. It was such an unusual hourglass shape that I sketched it, and kept it to pray over.

It was months later that I knew what to do with it. In the meantime I had many thoughts and ideas. I would do a batik. I would do a silk fabric painting. I would make worship banners with the image on them. I thought of many things, but the Lord kept urging me to paint. Finally, I gave in. (I can be very stubborn!)

When I set my heart to listen, this is the radiant imagery He brought forth. In it are several other images, my favorites being the fish caught in his mane, and the icthus/loaf of the bread of life that form his lower lip.

Many people have been captivated by the sadness in His eyes, but to me it has always seemed that He looks into the very depths of my soul and knows me altogether, loving me with a deep compassion.

Hidden Image Descriptions:

Box 1 There are several human faces hidden in the Lion’s mane by His cheek, and even a seated monkey with a long tail.

Box 2 The lower lip of the Lion became an icthus (one of the fish symbols for the followers of Christ) as well as a loaf symbolizing the Bread of Life.

Box 3 Tucked against the Lion’s other cheek is a very clear image of a fish.  I’m sure there are other images as well that I have not personally found.  In each of the paintings with hidden images, the Lord has told me other people will find things I have not.
