Title: Jackson Family

When he first called me, he was stuck in his car waiting for the tunnel traffic to clear during a terrible rainstorm.  He'd been in our studio/gallery and seen my work, and asked me about doing a portrait for him.  He and his fiancée were about to become a blended family, and he wanted to surprise her with a family portrait.  When we met to arrange the details of the commission, he presented me with many pictures to work from (which is always a great help!), and I kept getting lost.... They have five children!  I hadn't realized how many portraits I was undertaking in this one painting when we'd spoken on the phone.  I was a little overwhelmed.  But as I began to work on this commission, the most wonderful thing happened.  The more I painted these sweet-faced children, the more I loved them!  As I write this, I still haven't met any of them except this gentleman with the huge heart, but I love them all.  I have prayed over each of them the entire time I have spent working on the portrait, and I hope one day to meet the whole family.  I feel I know them already!
