Title: Dreams of Eden - Winter

This is the third in a series of four. Each one is named for a season of the year, beginning with Dreams of Eden - Summer. For the portrayal of winter, I wanted to use a face that might appear Scandinavian. And even though she is surrounded by freezing rain and ice and snow, she seems content to be right where she is. Since the eyes often portray the emotion of a piece, hers are completely and gently closed, inviting the viewer not just to look at her, but to feel what she feels. The colors solidify the piece by being used throughout.

I planned to paint snow all around her face, and thought the canvas would be mostly white, with hints of blue and purple. What a surprise to me that the Lord turned it almost completely the other way around! What He formed through my brushes and palette knife was so much colder that the only warmth is in her gentle expression. May you share the peace and rest she seems to exude!
