This is the second in a series of four. The first was Dreams of Eden - Summer. This lovely African American woman seems adrift in a pile of leaves, content to be right where she is. Since the eyes often portray the emotion of a piece, hers are completely and gently closed, inviting the viewer not just to look at her, but to feel what she feels. The colors solidify the piece by being used throughout.
I wanted to surround her face with leaves, and thought I could transfer color and impressions from leaves from our yard. However, they crumbled on my roller and made a huge mess! Thankfully, God had a better plan for this painting. What He formed through my brushes and palette knife was so much softer-edged and looks almost surreal. May you share the peace and rest she seems to exude!
